Two years later, she was giving lessons. The 55-year-old now coaches the swim team at Courts Plus and stresses the importance of community service..... The Mansfield, Ohio, native, who was diagnosed with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis in 1991, has spent most of her time in a wheelchair for the past four years. She can walk short distances, but prefers a wheelchair to help her get around. While in the water, she uses a flotation device to help her teach. But Knisely doesn’t see the wheelchair as a hindrance. In fact, it’s just the opposite. It gives her independence and doesn’t make her rely on other people.....MORE |
