In a new study, ten men with MS applied a testosterone gel to their shoulders once a day for a year, with surprising results. “We’re excited about these finding because we actually would be describing the first neural protective drugs for MS,” said Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl, a neurologist at the UCLA School of Medicine. Voskuhl said that the next step is a larger clinical trial involving more men. A treatment for women would likely use an estrogen gel.
